Initial orthopedic examinations and specialized X-rays revealed that Olivia had developed a unique way of navigating her surroundings by hopping on her hind legs. Despite this adaptation, experts agreed that she would require a custom wheelchair to ensure her developing spine was protected.
In collaboration with Bionic Pets, Homeward Trails began creating a specialized cart tailored to Olivia’s needs. This cart would be adjustable to accommodate her growth, allowing her the freedom to explore her surroundings without physical limitations.
A Joyful Life in Foster Care
While waiting for her custom wheelchair, Olivia is thriving in a loving foster home. She has impressively mastered balancing on her back legs and shows joyful energy as she bounds across the living room. A heartwarming friendship has also blossomed between her and Rey, a gentle 65-pound Labrador retriever, as they become inseparable companions.
