A few months old and left on the side of a busy road, a stray Golden Retriever puppy faced a dire situation. Suffering from a catastrophic injury that left his hind legs powerless, he found himself entirely alone in a frightening world.
When a kind pedestrian approached, the puppy displayed remarkable determination. Refusing to be abandoned, he painfully dragged his broken body across the ground using only his front paws, desperately trying to follow the stranger. This act of survival marked the beginning of a crucial turning point in his life.

Trusting a Stranger
Securing the injured puppy proved to be an emotional challenge. When the rescuer returned with a meal of duck rice, the puppy’s hunger was at war with his fear of humans. Each attempt to reach for him resulted in terrified cries, as he associated contact with pain.
However, through patience and compassion, he was carefully placed into a carrier with the help of caring bystanders. Once inside, the frantic energy subsided. The little dog appeared to relax, realizing that those who held the cage were there to protect him.
A Critical Medical Situation
An emergency vet visit unveiled a troubling diagnosis. X-rays indicated severe fractures and misalignment in his thoracic vertebrae, likely due to a traffic accident. The inflamed nerves were mostly severed and bleeding. The prognosis was grim; without surgery, his condition would deteriorate. Even with an operation, his chances of walking again were estimated at only 10% to 20%.
Despite the daunting odds, the veterinary team decided to proceed, hoping to give the young dog a fighting chance.
Surgery and Recovery
The surgical procedure was extensive and delicate. Surgeons carefully restored the nerves and stabilized the spine with internal steel nails. The risks associated with anesthesia and trauma were significant, but the puppy awoke defying expectations.
Handling recovery like a champion, he remained calm and focused on healing, despite the visible scars of his ordeal. For the next ten days, he was required to rest while his upper body remained active. The hospital staff, charmed by his spirit, showered him with treats and toys.
A Joyful New Beginning
After 15 days of intensive care, the little Golden Retriever achieved a remarkable milestone—he was discharged from the hospital. Not only did he survive a life-threatening ordeal, but he also found a loving family committed to caring for his special needs for the rest of his life.
