Treya’s ordeal began when her owner passed away, leaving her alone in a desolate environment. For years, she suffered in silence, enduring extreme weather conditions and the harsh realities of neglect. Her only solace came from neighbors who occasionally tossed food her way.

The Rescue Effort
It wasn’t until local firefighters discovered her that Treya’s nightmare began to end. They alerted the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, who quickly responded to the call for help. Upon arrival, they found her cowering in the dirt, physically and emotionally scarred from her years of isolation.
Initial Medical Assessment
Once transported to the Stray Rescue’s medical headquarters, the veterinary team assessed Treya’s condition. They found that she had survived without a front limb, suffered from a severe flea infestation, and was battling life-threatening heartworm disease. The rescue team understood that addressing her physical ailments would be easier than helping her overcome her deep-seated fear of humans.
A Friend in Need
To help Treya regain her trust in people, the rescue team introduced her to Pinky, a small Brussels Griffon mix.
