For one fragile dog, home was not a place of comfort but the cramped confines of a discarded car tire. Neve, suffering from a severe skin condition that left her body covered in painful, bleeding wounds, was shunned by the community. Instead of compassion, she faced rejection as people labeled her a “mangy” animal and chased her away.
Desperate to escape the biting cold and find some semblance of safety, Neve sought refuge within the tire, trembling and exhausted. While some offered scraps of food, most locals turned their backs on her, unable to see the terrified soul beneath her disfigured exterior.

A Warm Embrace Changes Everything
Everything changed the moment her rescuer lifted her into a heated car. Wrapped in warmth for the first time, a promise was made: she would never feel unwanted again. Neve was given her name and a chance at a new life, but the initial days in her new environment were challenging. Even in a warm room, she couldn’t shake off the cold that had seeped into her bones, battling severe anemia and painful inflammation.
Receiving her very first toy, Neve simply stared at it, having never learned how to play. However, her caregivers were committed to teaching her about love and joy, understanding that healing would take time.
Intensive Care for Recovery
Neve’s recovery required around-the-clock care. Her treatment included medicated baths to soothe her inflamed skin, followed by gentle massages with coconut oil to prevent further cracking of her raw skin. She was provided with antibiotics and nutritious food to combat severe malnutrition. Gradually, the love and attention began to show results.
By Day 23, the heavy sadness in her eyes started to lift, and by Day 34, her wounds had healed completely. A soft yellow coat began to grow back, transforming her appearance and her spirit.
A Return to Her Old Haunt
Two months after her rescue, Neve’s rescuer decided to revisit the location where she had suffered rejection. This time, Neve approached the spot with confidence, a stark contrast to her former self. Now a gentle and friendly dog, she delighted in the company of people and other animals, fully embracing her new life.
As the temperatures dropped to a bitter 14 degrees Celsius, Neve was safe indoors, a testament to her remarkable transformation. She eagerly awaited her vaccinations, already accustomed to the warmth of a loving home. Neve’s journey is a powerful reminder that a skin condition does not define an animal’s worth and that every stray deserves the comfort of a warm bed.
