In Bosnia, a hidden well became a trap for a blind senior dog, who fell twenty-six feet while searching for food. For an entire month, he faced the cold and isolation at the bottom of that well, where he was left defenseless and alone.
As the dog remained trapped, a group of local children displayed remarkable kindness. While adults ignored the situation, these young ones gathered their leftover food and dropped it into the well, ensuring the starving animal had something to eat during his prolonged ordeal.

The Call for Help
After weeks of desperation, news of the trapped dog reached veteran rescuers Fahrudin Caki Bravo and Ratko Koblar from the Harmony Fund. They made the drive to the remote location, concerned about what they might find in the depths of the well. Their hearts were heavy with the thought of how long the blind dog had been trapped.
Rescue Mission
Upon arriving, they peered over the edge and saw the frail outline of the dog. One rescuer prepared himself to descend the narrow shaft, equipped with safety gear. The descent was slow and treacherous, the air growing colder as he moved deeper.
When he finally reached the bottom, the condition of the dog was heartbreaking. Yet, instead of showing fear, the dog surrendered himself into the rescuer’s arms, seeking warmth and comfort. With a secure harness attached, the team carefully hoisted him back to the surface.
A New Beginning
As he emerged into the sunlight for the first time in thirty days, the dog, now named Christmas, let out a soft sigh. He had survived unimaginable horrors but displayed a gentle spirit. After receiving medical care and resting in a foster home, the joyous news arrived: Christmas had found a forever family ready to offer him love and safety.
Reflecting on the journey, Fahrudin noted that while Christmas couldn’t see the children or the rescuers, he felt their love, which kept his heart beating until help arrived.
